 "It is an honour to open the 2nd International Conference Millennia2015, organized by the Destrée Institute under UNESCO patronage.

 

This is one step in a process that started in March 2008 in Liege and that will culminate with a conference in 2015 at the United Nations in New York.

 

This is step is especially important, as it will mark the adoption of the Action Plan for Women's Empowerment.

 

I wish to thank Ms. Marie-Anne Delahaut and her team for organizing this conference and the Destrée Institute for its foresight research on women's empowerment.In a world changing quickly, we need new forms of partnership like this, which draw on the wealth of civil society, to foster stronger collective action."
